59 year old Susan Burgess from Dewsbury was a resident in Holme House care home in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.
She died after nurse Mrs Winifred Jozi decided with one look that she was dead. The nurse was summoned but made no attempt to carry out CPR. The Grandmother, a dementia sufferer, was found unresponsive in her chair at 6.20am and the staff called Nurse Jozi. She called NHs direct who promised a call back within two hours. Staff, unsatisfied with this, called 999 and were told by the emergency operator to try to revive her before the ambulance arrived. She was pronounced dead an hour later.
The company owning the home had a policy in place and carried out a full investigation.
“The company is disappointed that it was not invited to attend or comment at the inquest.
“The manager of the home worked closely with the family at the time of the incident and the company offers its deepest sympathy at the loss of their loved one.”
