Fatal Farm Accident Shows Dangers of Working With A Tractor

The dangers of working with a tractor and and the ever present possibility of a farm accident have been shown by the recent report of a farmer in Ontario Canada who died when a log rolled down the bucket arm of the tractor and crushed him in the open cab area

The farm worker who was 27 years was crushed and died at the scene of the incident.

Specialist Injury Solicitors Comment:

This tragic accident demonstrates again three of the main issues that make farm work accidents so common.

  1. Firstly, the farm worker is using heavy and dangerous farm equipment and is more often than not unsupervised.
  2. Secondly as well as working alone they are also likely to be working in areas where others may not be able to come to their immediate assistance.
  3. Thirdly because the work is largely unsupervised – because detailed supervision would be impractical- the farm worker is often tempted to take risks that if they were not working alone they perhaps would not do.

From the point of view of bringing a personal injury claim for a farm accident this case also demonstrates how important it will be to get legal advice quickly as the evidence will need to be preserved to ensure the maximum possibility of success in any subsequent personal injury claim
