Appalling care offered to residents.
The Care Home, Cleveland Park in North Shields, run by Orchard Care Homes Limited was rated as inadequate in a Care Quality Commission Report. ALL the areas investigated by inspectors were found to be inadequate (the worst rating).
The report was so bad that the Home has been closed down according to local media reports:
Almost unbelievably, the latest report was following an earlier inspection in August 2015 where failures were highlighted and areas which needed to improve were identified.
Have you been affected by Cleveland Park Care Home?
It is hard to see how a report on a care home could be more damning or shaming in the circumstances – and the closure of the home is no doubt a relief to residents and their relatives who are now (we understand) being relocated by the local Council.
We have already been approached by concerned relatives and residents to discuss what has happened and what steps may be taken to avoid this sort of disaster from happening again- as well as any legal action that might be possible for those who had to put up with these conditions whilst being resident.
We share these concerns and are happy to talk in confidence to anybody who has been affected by this catalogue of failures to offer free advice and assistance as to their position.

Terrible report damns all areas
The report, which was published in late December 2015 confirmed that the following areas were cause for major concern:
- Effective Care
- Unresponsive to needs of residents
During the later inspection in October 2015 the commission noted that there was dried faeces on carpets, bedding and walls and many other parts of the home were not properly cleaned. Lounge furniture gave off what were described as ‘offensive odours’. Unsurprisingly, the whole care home was deemed an infection risk for vulnerable residents.
The Home was subsequently closed by the Care Quality Commission because the health and welfare of the residents was being put seriously at risk
A spokesman for the Orchard Care Homes said that it had not been given time to implement a more robust regime following the August 2015 inspection.
