The Serious Case Review into care home abuse and neglect at the Orchid View Nursing Home in Surrey described the care there as ‘truly appalling’

The Coroner described the care provided to residents as ‘suboptimal’ and the catalogue of abuse and mistreatment included:
- wrong doses of medication
- beds left soiled
- altering of medical records and covering up of errors
- patients underfed and locked in their rooms
- calls for help not answered in busy period
